Hipster Fashion

As I mentioned in a previous post I am fascinated by the term 'Hipster' and what a being a hipster actually is?
I have done a lil bit of research and have discovered that I totally LOVE the hipster look!
Here's my definition of a hipster...
A hipster is a person who has independent thinking, music taste, fashion, political views and a sense of creativity and appreciation of art.
Although "hipsterism" is really a state of mind,it is also often intertwined with distinct fashion sensibilities. Hipsters reject the culturally-ignorant attitudes of mainstream consumers, and are often be seen wearing vintage and thrift store inspired fashions, tight-fitting jeans, old-school sneakers, and sometimes thick rimmed glasses. Both hipster men and women sport similar androgynous hair styles that include combinations of messy shag cuts and asymmetric side-swept bangs. Such styles are often associated with the work of creative stylists at urban salons, and are usually too "edgy" for the culturally-sheltered mainstream consumer.
 (info from the Urban Dictionary.)
I think Hipsters are awesome and have no clue why people take the mic out of them!?

Hipster Fashions I Love...
Skinny Jeans
I love skinny jeans, I think they are great! They're so versatile and can be worn with anything!
I especially love the look in this picture. I love the books with the skinny jeans and the really easy to wear top. Big thumbs up from me :)

Ray bans/think rimmed glasses

Cannot wait till summer again so I can buy a pair of these!
Authentic Ray Bans are also very hipster-ish.

Here's some pics to give you a basic idea of hipster fashions. I find that Topshop is actually great for hipster-ish clothes!
The definition of awesome!

I hope this post has given you some idea about hipster fashion :) I certainly feel very Hipster educated now!

My most wanted Nars products!

I am LOVING Nars at the moment! It took me literally ages to think what Nars product I should put on my Wishlist/ start saving up for, as they are pretty pricey, but still amazing!
Here's a select few of the Nars products that I would love, however if I could I would buy the whole shop!

#1 Satin Lipstick - Afghan Red colour  £17.50

I've been wanting a red lipstick for ages now. My initial reason for wanting a red lipstick is because I really like the vampy- type look, I also think the dark red colour would go so nice with thick, black liquid liner.
This is from the satin lipstick range, it contains conditioners and antioxidants that hydrate, nourish and protect your lips. Just what is needed in this freezing weather!

#2 Trio Eyeshadow- Arabian Nights  £33.00
I wrote about this gorgeous eyeshadow in my blog post 'my wishlist' so hop over to there to check it out! This eyeshadow sorta reminds me of New Years Eve! I think it'd be a great eyeshadow to wear to a party! It's soo pretty, I'm in love ;)

#3 Larger than life long-wear eyeliner- Via Veneto  £17.00

This eyeliner looks really nice and easy to apply. I try to go for a more interesting shade, maybe a dark green, but I can't resist classic black eyeliner, it's so versatile! With black eyeliner I also feel as though I can give it any look/ feel I want to suit my mood :)

#4 The Multiple- Maldives  £29.00

For those of you who aren't familiar with 'The Multiple' it's basically for lips, cheeks and eyes all in one! Very handy me thinks! I love the colour of this product as, obviously, I wanted to go for one that I think would suit my eyes, lips and cheeks. I also think that this product is very handy to carry around with you, to school for instance. At my school I have to wear a blazer (it's awful) and my pockets are always filled to the brim with my blusher, eyeliner/shadow and my lipgloss. However with this product I'd only need one makeup product in my pocket! Result!

#5 Andy Warhol Highlighting Blush  £21.00

This is from Nars's Andy Warhol collection. I have been meaning to try a highlighter for ages but still haven't! This colour looks pretty much perfect and I would love to give it a go to give my skin a slightly dewy, shimmery look.

That was my very select few of my most wanted Nars products, and maybe one day I will have finally bought them all (I wish.) All in all that came to £117.50... gulp... hey ho I can dream;) Obviously for some of these products eg. the highlighter I could find a cheap alternative however this colour is pretty much perfect and a girl can dream :)
I have broken up from school today, waheeey! So will try and blog slightly more than usual!
Ta ta for now :)

Inspiration is everywhere, everywhere is inspiration

Today I thought I'd do a blog type style post as I have only done one of them so far! Here's some ramblings and things that have inspired me this week!
It's coming up to Christmas and for most people that means chilling, less school work and mainly more time free for blogging! But no, that is not the case for me this year as the work load is well and truly mounting up as I have my mocks after Christmas! Roll on summer 2013 please when GCSEs are all over! Then maybe I can get my social life back and stop revising!
However I see my blog as a little bit of escapism from work/school.

So this weekend I have been revising, blogging and eating cupcakes. I wish I could be out and about doing things new and interesting to share with you all however as I said, thanks to exams I now have no social life! So instead I thought I'd treat you to some nice images and some inspiration :)

Always remember...

This week I have just become familiar with what the term 'hipster' means and what the 'hipster triangle' is... I'm a bit behind the times yes, I know. I'm loving this whole hipster triangle business, a bit like K$sha's new song http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NOubzHCUt48 check it out if you are not familiar with it. This music video, for me, is basically the definition of hipster :) I'm now looking into hipster style as I really like it and will probably do a blog post about it soon!
Also this week I have fallen in loveee with a band called Bastille. I especially love their song called 'Flaws.' If you haven't heard it I strongly recommend you check it out :) I also love Gabrielle Aplin - Power of Love. Such an amazing voice!

Christmas lights. There are SO many on my road! It's like living in Las Vegas.

Been thinking a lot about the future recently... maybe I'm just being too deep. I have a gap year planned and I'm literally soooo excited! I cannot wait to leave school purely for my gap year... after my gap year I have no clue what I'm going to do... I'm sure I'll work it out in time...
For my gap year I'd love to go and teach English to young children in Vietnam. I sounds crazy but I think it'd be soo amazing! If any of you guys out there are thinking about taking a gap year but don't know what to do, have a look at this website and hopefully it'll give you some ideas! http://www.planmygapyear.co.uk/

Vietnamanamnam

Also this weekend I've had a little weekend webcam sesh with my tiger (cat called Alfie, but I refer to him as my tiger.) He loves the camera...
'scuse my face!

I have also come up with a new invention... Starbucks home delivery! Would quite literally be one of the best things. EVER. My life would then be complete. I'm sure many people agree with me, and that Starbucks home delivery would be pretty darn amazing!
Craving Starbucks now ah!
How good does this look!? Very good that's how ;)

Break up for Christmas on Friday woo! And it's my birthday on the 19th December so roll on 1960's partaay! Ah I have so much planning to do!
Also I have seen an amazingly gorgeous vampirey type lipstick this week from Nars. I want it!

Why not dress to match your star sign? I think that turquoise is so in at the moment, the star sign is Sagittarius and the colour is turquoise. I love turquoise :)
I best be off now and get back to my revision. This post has been very random and ramblyish but will be back to fashion and beauty posts next ;) I'll leave you with some lovely inspirational pictures, if youre like me, and are searching for some inspiration/ motivation at the moment :)
free your mind :)

Hope you've enjoyed my slightly random post ;)

My Wishlist

I thought I'd share with you a couple of things I'd like for Christmas! There's so many little bits I'd love but unfortunately I couldn't make a collage for them all! Most of these things are beauty products (surprise surprise!)

Soap and Glory Body Wash £6.50- Apparently this smells really nice and is a really lovely product. I love the smell of ALL the Soap and Glory items so would love to try this one!

Makeup Brushes- The ones I've used in my collage are Nars, however I think they are slightly pricey so I'd go for a cheaper make. I've been wanting some makeup brushes for ages as I'm sick of applying makeup using my fingers and then getting eyeshadow etc. all down my clothes!

Silver Linings Playbook Book- The price for this varies depending where you buy it from so I'll leave that up to you :) I haven't seen this film although I would LOVE to as apparently it's really good! I've been meaning to see sooo many films at the cinema lately but just having got round to doing it (damn you GSCEs!) I've decided seeing as I'm probably not going to get round to seeing the film for ages, I may as well read the book first.

Nars Arabian Nights Eyeshadow- I am in loveee with Nars at the moment and this eyeshadow looks like the perfect party shadow. I love the colours and would love to try it! £33.00 is quite pricey but after all it is Nars and it's such a pretty eyeshadow. I also love the name (the name of products really sells it to me!)

Bastille Album- Started listening the Bastille a few weeks ago and no I can't stop! Would love the Album to download onto my phone and listen to in car. Is it just me or does no one buy albums anymore? Everyone downloads from itunes now..? hmm maybe it's just me.

Soap and Glory Super Colour Fabulipstick- Very clever product name. This costs £9.00 which again is pretty pricey but you can't really go wrong with Soap and Glory...can you?  I've been on the look out for a lipstick for ageees! I currently don't really wear lipstick I normally opt for lip gloss so I thought I be a bit different and give lipstick ago for a change. I did consider lip stains but I've had bad experience with them in the past... I went into Boots once and tried on a black coloured lip stain (I was being idiotic with a friend ok, and plus,  wanted to see if I'd suit a goth look) well I didn't suit the goth look, not one bit! I couldn't get the lip stain off my lips no matter how hard I tried so in the end I had to walk round town looking like I'd been punched in the mouth... not an experience I want to repeat!

Anyway enough on the embarrassing stories front! I hope you like the products on my wishlist and maybe this has given you some inspiration to create your own one :)
Till next time!

A mini Haul!

I thought I'd start doing a some hauls!
These items I've recently bought and are some of my winter favourites :) Hope you like them too!

#1 Boots

I bought these boots in (surprisingly) C&H fabrics! I'd never of thought to even look in there for shoes but one day I decided to have a wonder in. I'm sooo pleased I did! There's so many shoes in there and so many nice pairs of boots it was hard to choose! These boots cost £30.00 which I thought was a good price considering how much I'm wearing them. The front of the boot is red suede (don't wear on a rainy day!)  I like the individual patterns of the top part of the boot, I think this makes them look kinda christmassy! Inside it is really soft and slighty furry. This keeps my feet sooo warm and they're really snuggly to wear. I also love these boots as they have a slight wedge to them which makes my taller! I thought the wedge would make it slightly difficult to walk but it didn't at all. Perfect wedge I say!

#2 Burgundy Polka Dot Dress

I'm a massive Topshop fan but I always find there clothes slightly pricey. I LOVE this dress as it's so versatile  you can dress it up or opt for a more casual look. It cost £38.00 so a bit on the pricey side but I couldn't resist! I'm crazy for burgundy colours this season, quite possibly my favourite colour!

#3 Union Jack Jumper

I LOVE big jumpers at the moment and I'm desperate to buy some more! I saw this jumper at Spittalfields market in London. I love Spittalfields, the jewelry there especially. A necklace is about £15.00 so pretty expensive, but they are all lovely. There's such a big selection of necklaces, from apple cors to moustaches to little clocks! Really want to go back and invest in a necklace with a clock on it, really vintage looking.
The jumper I bought was reduced to £10.00 however was also being sold on some other stalls and was more expensive there. So if you go to Spittalfields have a hunt around all the stores before you purchase your item of clothing as you may be able to find a bargain on another stall!

That's all on the haul front for now (sorry didn't have very many items, but I have a pretty tight budget!)

I'm wondering about some hairstyle ideas/accessories at the moment and was wondering if anyone has any good ideas...? Please let me know in the comments section if you do!

The 1960s- Hair!

In theme with my other blog post about 1960s makeup I've decided to do a follow up post all about 1960s hair!
I'm fascinated by the 1960s at the moment, and am having a 1960s themed birthday party on the 19th December! I thought I'd do a series of post all about the 1960s in prep for this! I'm still trying to decide to decide on how to do my hair and what to wear etc. but I shall show you my final outfit on the day! So lets crack on then...

A famous 1960s designer called Mary Quant led the famous 'Swinging London' revolution transforming women's hair fashions.

Jackie Kennedy - Jackie Kennedy influenced the 60s with her elegant outfits and her bouffant hair. Certain elements of her style are still admired today by many people. A friend of mine is crazy about her and her fashions!

Jackie Kennedy

Audrey Hepburn
Movie star looks were very influential. Italian films and New Wave cinema were particularly influential. Some other iconic actresses were:
Audrey Hepburn (my favourite!)
Sophia Loren
Elizabeth Taylor
and many more!

Short sharp crops were also very popular. These were sported by Twiggy, Mary Quant and actress Mia Farrow. This hairstyle was in complete contrast to the heavily hair sprayed bouffant look. Cropped hairstyles are less maintenance and a lot more natural. However I still love and prefer the bouffant look!

The Bouffant Look
Bouffants started in the late 50s and carried on to be at the height of fashion well into the 60s. Most people used hair accessories to hold up their bouffant but A LOT of hair spraying and back combing is required!
Unfortunately I have literally no idea how to do these hairstyles but I'm going to have to learn! So I'm afraid I can't give you any tips on how to achieve these hairstyles...sorry!

Beehive - height of fashion in the early 1960s.

 Crops- the ultimate 'tomboy hairstyle.'

Ponytails- worn high and combined with a bouffant style.

Fringes- Full and straight and at least eyebrow length.

 Headscarfs were also very popular!

I hope you've enjoyed my post all about 1960s hairstyles! The next one will be about 60s fashion :) Till next time! (sounds like I'm on some sort of tv programme I know, but blog endings are always a bit awkward!)

Products that give me that festive feeling...

Christmas is approaching (yippee) and recently I have been feeling way more festive than usual, so if you are feeling down or need a bit of Christmas cheer, here's some products to give you that festive feeling!

1. Redken colour enriching shampoo - £8.99

This shampoo is generally for the colour of your hair, so whatever colour your hair is then that's the type of shampoo you get (yes I know I'm stating the obvious.) I love this shampoo, the one for brunettes (the one I have) smells like chocolate and that's the main reason why this product makes me feel so festive! It makes my hair feel smooth and nourished and I LOVE it!

2. The Body Shop Candied Ginger Body Butter - £3.00

Sorry the pic is awful!

It makes my hands feel lush, smells like Christmas in a tub and the price is awesome! Do I need say more...?
If you want to go all out on the festive front you can also purchase the candied ginger body lotion for £3.00 as well :) The tub is huuuge and therefore lasts ages! Definitely got my moneys worth!

Candles!

I can't really recommend you much candle wise all I can say is that candles are essential for Christmas! What type of candle you buy really depends on what you look for in a candle, do you like the maple syrup smelling ones or the cranberry/ cinnamony smelling ones. I have to cranberry-ish smelling candles this year but I found them in my bathroom cabinet and they have no label on so I have no clue where they are from! All I know is that they smell lovely! The best website for buying Christmassy candles is:
http://www.yankee.co.uk/list/745/9/0/list.aspx?expandable=9&gclid=CMvvpdPn-7MCFW3MtAoduVMAjQ Yankee.co.uk. I have bought some candles from here before and they smell sooo good I could eat them!

Liz Earle Advent Calender!

As Zoella mentioned in her blog, Liz Earle Advent calenders are the ultimate Christmas treat! I want one!
http://uk.lizearle.com/twenty-four-days-of-christmas.html - Where to find them!

Lush!!

There are zillions of amazing lush products! Here are my top two that I recommend for Christmas:
Snow Fairy Shower Gel - £3.50
This product smells amaaaazing! and really makes me feel Christmassy! Also it's limited edition so hurry!

Bubble Beard Bubble Bar - £4.95
Seeing as moustaches are really in fashion at the moment, this is pretty much perfect! It's Christmassy and you can use it more than once!
(I'll be posting about Lush products soon so keep an eye out for that!)

Some Christmassy Products from Lush!

I hope this post has given you some Christmas inspiration! Let me know any of your suggestions!
